We are excited to announce the 2nd International Workshop on Lead-Free Perovskite Solar Cells, which will take place online from 22nd to 23rd October 2024. Hosted by the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (HZB), this workshop will focus on advancements in eco-friendly perovskite technology with the ultimate aim of moving towards more sustainable alternatives to traditional lead-based perovskite solar cells.
Why Lead-Free Perovskites?
In the past decade, perovskite solar cells have reached efficiencies of over 26%, positioning them as a transformative technology in the renewable energy landscape. However, the use of lead in these cells presents significant environmental concerns that could hinder their widespread commercial adoption. Research into lead-free alternatives, particularly tin-based perovskites, is essential for creating a sustainable path forward.
Tin (Sn) is currently the most promising replacement due to its favorable optoelectronic properties, but challenges such as tin oxidation and bandgap mismatches have kept tin-based perovskites from reaching the efficiency of their lead counterparts.
Workshop Objectives:
The workshop aims to:
• Consolidate research efforts in the field of tin perovskites and other lead-free alternatives.
• Foster collaboration among global research groups and industry experts working on perovskite technologies.
• Provide a platform for professors, senior researchers, and junior scientists to present their recent findings and discuss future directions in the field.
We encourage professors, students, postdocs, and group leaders to join the workshop and contribute to advancing eco-friendly perovskite research.
