Smartline PV Kick-Off Meeting Marks a Promising Start for Perovskite Solar Cell Innovations

Brussels, 28 February 2024 – The ambitious Smartline PV project commenced with an engaging and fruitful two-day kick-off meeting on February 26th and 27th at the Steiermark-Büro in Brussels. Our groundbreaking project aims to harness advanced perovskite solar cell technologies to achieve higher efficiencies in thin-film photovoltaics, focusing on the development of lead-free perovskite technology.

The meeting opened with warm welcomes and a comprehensive overview of the project presented by Dr. Thomas Rath from Graz University of Technology (TUG), which set the tone for a collaborative and forward-thinking atmosphere. The project officer, Mauricio Richter Rios from the European Commission’s CINEA, provided valuable insights into the expectations and support from the European Commission.

The session continued with presentations from all consortia partners. Each partner shared their expertise, current research focuses, and the resources they bring to the table, which underscored the consortium’s diverse capabilities and the potential for synergistic innovation.

Key discussions covered the administrative aspects of the project, including finance, dissemination strategies, upcoming deliverables, and reporting requirements, all adeptly coordinated by Julirose Kourist and Dr. Thomas Rath from coordinating TUG. The meeting also delved into detailed work package overviews, offering a platform for all partners to discuss their roles and strategic approaches to the project’s objectives.

The meeting concluded with a collective discussion on next steps, reinforcing the consortium’s dedication to achieving the project’s goals and making a significant impact on the photovoltaics industry. As we move forward, Smartline PV is set to not only advance perovskite technology but also to significantly contribute to sustainable energy solutions.
