Materials for the Energy Transition – TU Austria Matchmaking Event in Leoben

Last week, the Montanuniversität Leoben hosted the TU Austria matchmaking event “Materials for the Energy Transition” at the Impulszentrum für Werkstoffe (IZW). The event brought together researchers and innovators from Technische Universität Wien, Technische Universität Graz, and Montanuniversität Leoben to exchange ideas and foster collaboration on key technologies driving the energy transition.

Discussions focused on hydrogen technologies, energy storage, photovoltaics, CO₂ reduction, and carbon capture & utilization.

As part of the program, Thomas Rath (TU Graz, ICTM) presented the latest results on tin-based perovskite photovoltaics from the Smartline PV project, highlighting their potential for stable and sustainable next-generation solar cells. His talk complemented a wide range of excellent contributions from across TU Austria, including presentations by Michael Harasek, Merit Bodner, Markus Lehner, Gregor Trimmel, and Katharina Resch-Fauster. The event concluded with a lively panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition.

Events like this underline the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange. They help to establish valuable partnerships and lay the groundwork for future innovation.
