On 12 April 2025, Venanzio Raglione from the CNR Institute of Structure of Matter (CNR-ISM) presented research connected to the SMARTLINE-PV project during the Giornate Galileiane at the I.I.S. “G. Galilei–Bellisario” in Avezzano, Italy.
His seminar, entitled “Fluorescenza: la luce nascosta nel mondo invisibile” – “Fluorescence: the Hidden Light in the Invisible World” – introduced younger students to scientific concepts related to light, energy harvesting and emerging renewable-energy technologies.
Alongside insights into the scientific activities conducted within SMARTLINE-PV, the seminar highlighted the importance of renewable energy and the role that new materials and technologies can play in the transition toward a more sustainable energy system.
The event provided an opportunity to bring photovoltaic research closer to a younger audience, encourage direct interaction with a scientist and demonstrate how fundamental research can contribute to solutions for future energy generation.
Science communication and engagement with younger generations are important elements of SMARTLINE-PV. Sharing current research beyond the laboratory helps disseminate scientific knowledge, inspire curiosity and raise awareness of the technological, environmental and economic challenges associated with the energy transition.
The Giornate Galileiane took place from 7 to 12 April 2025 and combined scientific presentations with educational activities designed to promote critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving among students.
